We are more than pleased to announce that ÖTILLÖ will be back on Hvar for the third year in a row! As in the previous years, the race will open the European swimrun season to welcome all those who want to be a part of this fantastic and unique race.

The official world series Swimrun starts on Sunday, April 7th, 2019 at 9:15 am on the Hvar main square. It is considered one of the fastest growing endurance sports in the world and world toughest adventure races. The total distance is 40,425 m, with 31,590 m of running and 8,835 m of swimming. The world’s best teams come back to the Ötillö every year, many competing in a series of swimruns in a total of 7 different countries. Each year, there is a World Series winner in Men, Women and mixed category.

There is also a possibility to take part in the Sprint Hvar or Experience Hvar race, which cover distances of 11,800 m (10,200 m running and 1,600 m swimming) and 6,300 m (5,300 m running and 1,000 m swimming) in total. These are the two races that you can participate in without a partner.

The route for Swimrun Hvar

The Swimrun takes place through the inland island trails of the city of Hvar, as well as through the entire archipelago of the Paklinski islands, with the longest swim being 2,950 m! The race is long and hard, and the expected finishing time is anywhere from 5-9 hours. You need to be prepared for open-water swimming, especially when swimming the long swim towards the Paklinski islands.

It is the first year that an experience race has been introduced along side the Swimrun and Sprint. The race is designed for the novice who would want to get the feel of how the Swimrun looks like, but through a much easier route.
