4. SIGHTSEEING - The Charming Old Town will keep you craving for more

After exploring the hidden secrets of the island in its wine & food itineraries we have another sense to explore – the sight. Who doesn’t love the feeling of sunlight on their back and looking out into an airy and bright space? Start your day with a healthy breakfast and add some extra calories because the stroll through the city will actually bring you to so many discoveries that you will be “hungry” for some more. Explore the Old Town: begin with Hvar Cathedral (open daily from  7am-noon and 5pm-7pm) overlooking the  St. Stephen Square the center of Hvar’s daily babbling, built between the 16th and 17th centuries with that typical dash of Venetian flair. From here, walk south to the Franciscan monastery (Oct-May daily 10am-noon). This walled sanctuary centers on a Renaissance cloister. The museum is home to a magnificent 17th-century painting of the Last Supper. Return to the main square, then climb steps to the Castle with fantastic views of the harbour. Craving for more?Hire a car and drive 15 miles east to Stari Grad, founded by the Greeks in 400 BC, making it the oldest settlement on the island. Check out its main attraction a Renaissance villa built by Petar Hektorovic, a young aristocrat and poet, in 1520. Some additional hints? How about some souvenir from agave lace? Explore the fine art of making lace from agave leaves which was brought to the island by a seaman right from Tenerife. The lacemaking fine art is under UNESCO world heritage.

At the end - the mesmerizing scents of Hvar. How to get there?

Plane and hydroplane or plane and catamaran. Either way you choose, it will be a true adventure packed with fabulous sceneries typical for this hidden island in the Mediterranean. Split airport is well served and can be easily reached with direct flights from all major European capital cities. When you reach Resnik – Split airport the things become even easier, many Hvar hotels offer their shuttle service which will bring you directly to the Split port where you will be escorted to the catamaran terminal and after an hour journey you will again be welcomed by dedicated staff which will assist you with your luggage and check-in in one of your preferred hotels. If you want to spice up your journey and reach teh island within 13 minutes, a shuttle will bring you from Split airport to the ECA hydroplane terminal where you will board a hydroplane to Jelsa (Hvar) and again you will be welcomed by the hotel transfer staff.
