United Airlines has announced the launch of new direct flights from Newark (EWR) to Split (SPU), starting April 30, 2026, with service operating three times per week in both directions. This marks the first-ever scheduled long-haul route connecting the U.S. directly to Split (Croatia), a coastal city just an hour from Hvar, one of the top island destinations for U.S. travelers, according to Condé Nast Traveler.
This seasonal route will operate from April 30 until early September 2026, with United’s Boeing 767-300ER offering a capacity of 167 to 199 passengers and a range of cabin classes: Polaris Business, Premium Plus, Economy Plus, and Economy. Departures from Newark are scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with return flights from Split on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. With a flight time of approximately eight and a half hours, this is the fastest and most seamless connection between New York and Split in history.
