Where is Hvar?

  • Hvar Island is part of the Splitsko-dalmatinska county in Dalmatia, Croatia and a part of the central Dalmatian archipelago. With an area of 299.6 sq km (length 68.2 km, width up to 10.5 km), Hvar stretches between the islands of Brač, Vis and Korčula. It is the longest and sunniest of the Adriatic islands. Hvar town is the most desirable vacationing destination throughout the year. The other main towns on the island are Stari Grad and Jelsa. There are four ports of entry for passenger ferries and catamarans to Hvar Island: Hvar town, Stari Grad, Jelsa and Sućuraj.

What is the ferry schedule?

  • From Split to Stari Grad: there are between three and five car ferries a day. The trip takes two hours. For exact ferry schedules, please visit www.jadrolinija.hr.
  • From Split to Hvar: town there are between 2 and 3 catamarans a day (for passengers only) and the trip takes around 1 hour. More information about catamaran lines to Hvar can be found at www.jadrolinija.hr and at www.krilo.hr.

What is the distance between port of Hvar and the hotel?

  • The majority of Suncani Hvar hotels are located in the heart of the town centre, with only 2-5 minutes walking distance from the Hvar port. One of our hotels is located in a tranquil bay outside the town, but it is still not very far from the town centre (cca 25 minutes walking distance).
  • We offer luggage transportation services to hotels from all catamarans which arrive to Hvar port.
  • * According to the newly issued regulation and following the historical monuments preservation and environmental standards, motor vehicles are not anymore allowed to enter Hvar’s old city center. To ease and simplify your arrival to your Sunčani Hvar Hotel our transfers’ team will wait for you at the catamaran docking to take over your luggage and escort you to the nearest shuttle pick-up point that is short walk away.

What is the distance between beach and hotel Amfora?

  • There is a public pebble beach right in front of the hotel. Bonj ‘les bains’ beach club is located in Amfora bay as well. The entrance to all beaches is free of charge, but charges apply for rental of the sun chairs and umbrellas at pebble beach and sun chairs, umbrellas, pontoons and stone cabanas at Bonj ‘les bains’ beach club.

Is there a hair salon in a hotel?

  • No, but we will make an appointment for you and your guests in one of local hair salons, which will take care of your make up as well.

Is the beach accessible directly from the hotel?

  • No.

Is Hvar near an airport?

  • The closest airport to Hvar Island is Split airport (www.split-airport.hr). There is a bus shuttle service from the airport to the port of Split where you can find boat lines to the island of Hvar. (www.jadrolinija.hr)
    There are also road and rail connections to Split port from Zagreb (Croatian capital) airport (www.zagreb-airport.hr). Average journey time from Zagreb to Split is 4 hours by car and 5 to 6 hours by bus or train. Train and bus stations are located at the Split port.

How can we reach Hvar from Split?

  • There are several options for you to get to the island of Hvar from Split. There is an organized bus shuttle service from t the airport to the port of Split, wwhich takes around 30 minutes. From Split port you can choose from several ferry and catamaran lines, depending on your final destination on the island of Hvar (Stari Grad, Jelsa, Hvar town).Stari Grad and Sućuraj ferries take cars and Hvar town has pedestrian-only catamarans. Buses to Hvar city meet ferries coming into Stari Grad (buses do not meet the car ferry in Sućuraj). There are catamaran lines from Split to the town of Jelsa with a quick stop at Bol (neighbouringBrač island ) and direct catamaran lines from Split to Hvar that run all year (although more frequently in the summer). How can we reach Hvar from Dubrovnik?

  • To get from Dubrovnik to Hvar, you can take the Jadrolinija coastal ferry from Dubrovnik that runs twice a week from June to September, stopping at the neighbouring island of Korčula. The ferry journey takes between 7 and 8 hours. If you have a car and want to drive from Dubrovnik to Hvar, the best thing to do is to drive from Dubrovnik to the coastal town of Drvenik and take the car ferry to Sućuraj port on the Hvar Island (40 minutes journey). From Sućuraj, you need to drive across the island to Hvar town (distance of 80 km). The other option is driving to Split city, taking the ferry line to Stari Grad and then driving to Hvar town. There is no direct ferry line from Dubrovnik to Hvar town yet.

Does Sunčani Hvar assist in legal requirements for church or civil ceremony?

  • No, but we will provide you with all contact details needed.

Do you have a photographer?

  • We do not provide an in-house photographer, but can provide a few professional wedding photography studios.

Do you have a florist?

  • No, but we will assist you with all your flower arrangements.

Do we need wedding planner?

  • It is really up to you to decide on this, with regards to your budget and time. If you decide to hire a wedding planner to help you out with legal requirements, we will provide you with contacts of our preferred wedding planner agencies.

Can we have reception at one venue and wedding dinner at the other?

  • Yes, you can have a civil ceremony at one venue and a wedding dinner at the other. We will provide best possible options according to your wishes.

Can we get to Hvar town by car directly?

  • You need to take your car to Stari Grad or Sućuraj ferry and then drive to Hvar town.

Can we drive a car on the island?

  • Yes, you can drive a car on the island. Driving is one of the best ways to explore the hidden bays and beaches, abandoned villages, lavender and olive fields.

Can we bring our own wedding cake to the wedding?

  • We suggest using the services of our pastry chef. However, if you have special requirements and traditions, we will allow bringing your own wedding cake. All external food must have proper legal permits in line with Croatian Health and Safety regulations.

Can we bring our own drinks to the wedding?

  • Sunčani Hvar corporate policy does not allow bringing drinks to its venues.

  • Two beaches are within walking distance from the hotel. The pebble beach in front of Amfora resort is located only five minutes away. Another pebble beach is located in a small cove in front of the Franciscan monastery, less than 5 minutes walking distance away from the hotel.

  • The hotel is located in the historic centre, on the main town square.

  • For regular rates, you can cancel your reservation up to 5 days before the arrival without penalties. If you cancel within 5 days prior to the arrival, penalties of 2 nights will be charged. We accept only written cancellations. Full amount of the stay is charged for no-shows.

  • Amfora resort features open, fresh water cascading pool. The pool is open from 8 am till 19pm (in high season) and from 9 am till 18 pm (in pre-season and post-season). The pool is chlorinated.

  • Yes, the business centre is located one floor below the main lobby.

  • There is no pool at hotel Riva. The nearest pool is located at our sister hotel Adriana (two minutes walking distance from the hotel) and at our sister hotel Amfora (10 minutes walking distance away from Riva). The sea water pool at Adriana is an indoor pool, but sliding roof makes it half-open during the summer. The fresh water pool at hotel Amfora is an outdoor pool. Guests from Riva hotel can access to the pools free of charge in pre (before mid-July) and post (after August) season only.

Do the rooms have a bath or a shower?

  • All Superior sea view rooms have a shower. All Superior city view rooms have a bathtub. Most of suites have a shower and a bathtub.

  • There are baby cots in some rooms available upon request. Accommodation for children under 12 years of age is free of charge, if accommodated with parents in the same room.

  • In the main building (3*), we have three types of rooms: Standard park view, Superior sea view and Junior suites with sea view. At the beach lodge (2*), rooms are Standard with sea view and balcony.

What is the distance between the hotel and the town centre?

  • Hotel Villa Dalmacija (main building 3*) is located at the waterfront promenade in a small bay just around the corner from the main harbour. Dalmacija beach lodge (annex 2*) is located 100 m away from the main building, at a small pebble beach.

What is the distance between the beach and the hotel?

  • The pebble beach is located 100 m from the hotel in a small cove. There is also a small concrete beach in front of Villa Dalmacija.

Is there air-conditioning?

  • No. Rooms in the main building have fans. Rooms at a beach lodge do not have fans.

Is there access to the Adriana pool if you are not a guest at Sunčani Hvar Hotels?

  • Subject to Adriana occupancy, access to the pool is allowed to all Sunčani Hvar hotels guests and all Hvar town guests, regardless of their accommodation in Hvar. Charges for daily usage of the pool apply. Complimentary usage of Adriana pool is allowed to hotel Adriana guests only.

Is there access to the Adriana pool if you are a guest at Sunčani Hvar Hotels?
