Ms. Vrgoč talks MICE and about her trip to the Conventa Fair

We recently caught up with Tomislava Vrgoč, our very own MICE sales manager about her trip to Ljubljana Slovenia, where she met with some of the global experts in the field at the Conventa Fair 2017.

She took some time to share with us some of the most important tips and hints in the MICE industry and tell us why island Hvar as a destination corresponds to the increasing trends today!

SHH: What are some of the main trends emerging in the MICE industry?

Ms. Vrgoč: One that specifically pops up is the story living whereby the guests get immersed into local culture with the program. It makes a difference to contribute to local community by participating in everyday life, learning new skills or gaining knowledge. A mere storytelling doesn’t cut it anymore.

SHH: What type of venues did you think received the best reception?

Ms. Vrgoč: Out of the box event venues – whereby we have great contenders, Hvar Arsenal and one of the oldest communal theatres in Europe. They are of unique historical value to national culture and local heritage and it always works to bring your event into the local community.

SHH: What do you believe people look for when choosing a place for their meetings/incentives/team buildings?

Ms. Vrgoč: A wow effect – it can be right next door or half way across the world. A trip that makes a difference. Attention to detail. Creating links.

SHH: What would you say are some of SHH’s biggest strengths?

Ms. Vrgoč: A great mix of fine accommodation, great F&B venues, a skilled and motivated team, local expertise of presenting and handling high end events.

SHH: And what about Hvar’s strengths?

Ms. Vrgoč: First of all it’s the surprise factor, as Hvar is still unknown as a destination for incentive travel. Many of our partners say Hvar is the highlight of their incentive program. It’s a destination for incentives on foot, as you do not need any transfers between the hotels and event venues located at the beachfront or in the old town center. A great selection of first class restaurants and nightlife is right on your doorstep. It has three UNECO protected cultural heritages on which you can build unique stories and experiences of inclusion. One of our partners is coming back for years now with a group of 100 persons for 4 days on a company incentive, always with a new program. It is the sunniest island in the Mediterranean located up to a 3-hour flight from major European hubs, easily accessible from the airport, safe and unexpected.

SHH: What incentive solutions do you believe “sell best”?

Ms. Vrgoč: The ones with a tailor made feeling, so the clients can sense it is not a copy-paste program, but made to suit their goals.

SHH: What are some of the destinations that you believe might be comparable to Hvar? & why?

Ms. Vrgoč: We have received enquiries in which geographical determinism does not appear to be crucial, as long as it’s not too complicated with access. A client can be proposed with unique programs at New York, Rio de Janeiro, Stockholm or Hvar, which all fit within the budget. It’s the matter of a unique experience, a ‘story living’.
