Meet Ana Štambuk, Head Concierge

Even if her rich portfolio includes dealing with A-list customers as Steve Aoki, Kevin Spacey, Juan Mata, Keira Knightley, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, Sam Worthington and many more, Ana has remained curteous and humble staying focused on delivering the same level of service to each of her customers.

When aproaching the Amfora Hvar Grand Beach Resort, the first impression matching the impeccable interior is her warm-hearted welcoming smile and positive attitude.

How did your career take its current form?

By combination of circumstances. The company offered me the concierge position and I honestly wasn't totally sure what that entailed but I took the job. Soon I found myself hooked up because I found the job challenging and comprehensive and that is exactly what I want.

What do you enjoy most about being a concierge?

The challenges and creating new offers for guests and their comments wheter they are positive or negative because it helps me to better my service.

What is the strangest request you've ever gotten from a guest?

There are no strange requests, each guest is an individual of its own and a good Concierge has to be a good listener with a handfull of empathy towards its interlocutor. The main characteristics of this job imply understanding each customer's desire and ability to offer more than that. For example, I had a case where I needed to provide special medicines for a gentleman who has forgotten his on a cruise ship. By counting on the support of my key contacts I was successful to deliver to the guest his medication on time.

What are the biggest challenges of your job?

Meeting set deadlines.

What would you say are the top qualities needed for someone who wants to work in the hospitality industry?

Number one would be a true enjoyment of working with people, it's inevitable. Then, a positive attitude, sincere smile, work commitment, resourcefulness, being a good host with proper manners, destination knowledge, foreign languages, contact with the local population ... and a lot of positive energy and patience.
