THE MANY FACES OF HVAR - ART LOVING PARADISE

The city of Hvar with its unique fusion of luxurious Mediterranean nature, rich cultural and historical heritage and mundane beauty attracts and inspires artists and performers of all ages and genres which add to the charm of the medieval and Renaissance buildings of the Old Town with their appealing galleries, museums and studios open to everyone to explore. From traditional autochthone festivals to gorgeous agave parks with sculptures, folklore and avant garde dances and elaborate coral jewelry, Hvar’s varied and accomplished community of artists is as eclectic as your tastes.

In a continuous attempt to contribute to this niche and to set an indelible mark on Hvar’s hospitality scene, The Palace Hvar Hotel has entered a new world of opportunity binding its name to the lifestyle of Arts & Culture. Following packages that include guided private visits to UNESCO World Heritage protected sites, especially crafted dinners for two featuring recipes from established Mediterranean cookbooks, traditional Hvar's gifts upon hotel check-in and much more, the hotel hosts once again artist’s Ivana Pleština art exhibition.

Just a quick walk along the waterfront promenade and through Hvar’s Pjaca (central square) reveal the world of Ivana Pleština, an emerging 21st century painter worth to discover. Pleština isn’t a painter who provides instant gratification. Her works are slow-burners not easily decipherable and in many cases the theme of the painting is unique to the eye of the beholder.

Housed in a sleek ambient of glass and steel design, The Palace lobby area is now showing Pleština’s “Window into ‘un’-reality”. The exhibit focuses on the fascinating struggle of different emotions we are experiencing in our everyday life, transitioning through moods and colors from abstraction to reality and all the way back in the unknown. The human figures appear obliquely in their vague state of mind, the landscapes entice and provoke with their irradiating and powerful colors and the ambiances are rich of surreal moments. Adding to the overall tone, the harsh and rich textures made by scraping, scratching and scumbling of the fragile surfaces.

In the meantime, see a preview of Pleština's last year’s exhibition.
